Porcelain Veneers Coppell, TX

Dental Veneers Coppell

Veneers are the epitome of cosmetic dentistry. These are small thin shells that cover the outer surface of the tooth, giving it perfect shape and color, and giving you the smile that you always dreamed about.

What are they made of?

Generally, veneers are made from a specific kind of porcelain called E-max Porcelain. This type not only has a beautiful appearance, but has sufficient strength to be carved into thin shells without breaking or damage. Recently, another type of veneers emerged on the market, which is porcelain veneers. These have equally beautiful looks, but lower strength and longevity compared to the porcelain ones; however, they are quite cheaper, and could be a great choice if you are on a budget.

Who could Benefit from Dental Veneers Coppell?

Well .. everybody.
Getting your teeth treated with veneers is a cosmetic procedure, and could be used with anyone that seeks a better smile. Here are some cases that could benefit greatly from veneers:
  • Patients with spaced between their teeth.
  • Patients with slightly crooked or crowded teeth (although severe crowding would need braces)
  • Patients with teeth so discolored that normal bleaching and whitening do not yield the desired effect.
  • Patients with short and worn out teeth due to grinding and mashing their teeth together.
  • Patients with broken or chipped teeth, or if the teeth are inherently misshapen.

How are Veneers made?

The procedure is incredibly simple, and takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Modern dentists would start with digitally designing your smile, where the shape, length and color of the teeth is selected and applied to your photograph for you to see before even the procedure starts. This gives you full control and guarantees your satisfaction. From that design, a mock-up is made, which is essentially a trial run for how your teeth would look with veneers on them, again giving you full control and the ability to make adjustments if you want.

When all is satisfactory, the dentist would begin the preparation of the teeth. After numbing the teeth, a special stone is used to file down 0.3 mm of the front surface of your teeth, giving enough space for the veneers so that they would be bulky and ugly. Any decay or cavities are treated first and included in the preparation. The dentist would then take a replica (or mold) of your teeth and send it to the lab. The lab uses this replica together with the design provided by the Coppell Dentist to fabricate the veneers from thin 0.5 mm shells of porcelain (of course this step is skipped with composite veneers that are made directly in your mouth in the same visit). Finally, the lab returns the finished veneers for cementation on your teeth, and minor adjustments are made to ensure a good fit and proper biting and chewing.

What are the Drawbacks of Veneers?

When it comes to cosmetic dentistry, there is nothing better than veneers to give you a perfect smile; however, they are not without their faults.

Although e-max porcelain is quite tough, it is still liable to fracture since it is made into incredibly thin slices, but worry not because the repair procedure is quite simple. The cement used to fix the veneers on the teeth is also liable to dissolve and detach, and the veneers could fall out of your mouth, but again re-cementing them is a very easy process. Finally, there is a slight chance of damaging the teeth since filing is involved, but this is a very low possibility considering we only remove 0.3 mm from the outer surface of the teeth.
